February goodies

Hope you're having a good weekend so far!  I was able to go see the Hobbit with my young people today; what a great movie!  LOVE going to the movies with my kids- that was the best part! :)

Then I headed home to work on learning contracts for my kinders, planning a menu for the rest of January, and finishing up my February goodies.  I have posted a February calendar set and a word family/onset-rime puzzle set too.  I am enjoying learning how to create learning materials and hope that my skills will grow!

Oh, So, Soft!!!

I squeezed in some sewing time last night before bed to get my momma's pj pants started.  My niece, Zoe, loved this fabric.  She was right- it is sooooo soft. I LOVE this cloth!

January Calendar Set

I am an insomniac, so while I couldn't sleep last night, I whipped up this cute set of calendar pieces for January.  The set includes three different patterns (AB, AABB, and ABC).  Here are a few screenshots of the calendar characters you will find in this set.

Growing & Learning & Something New

Happy 2013! :)  I've been away from "here" for quite a while, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy creating and learning and doing.  Life has a way of getting crazy busy, and mine certainly is that most days.  Teaching, after school meetings of one kind or another, grad school, family, Donors Choose, an after school club, there is never enough time in the day for everything I am supposed to do.  I'm sure it's the same with you.

So please forgive my absence if you're someone who has visited here.  Here is what I've been up to.

• working on a master's degree (I will hopefully graduate in May 2014.)
• learning how to sew & quilt thanks to a couple wonderful cousins!!!
• running an after school club at my school- Craft Club- it is a lot of fun doing craft projects with kids and teaching them how to make cards and create cool things
• moving classrooms and grades every school year (ugh!)- now I'm back in kindergarten & I have a really good group of kids this year!
• being grade level chair and a teacher leader- and trying to not stink at both
• learning how to create professional looking, high quality learning materials for my students as well as to share & sell with colleagues and the teaching community

This past fall, in an effort to grow myself as a teacher and looking for ways to share but also to help supplement our income, I stepped out of my comfort zone and created a teacher "store" at Teachers Pay Teachers and at Teachers Notebook.  I am working hard to improve myself in this area.  The next step is to share more, so I will be using my blog to share craft things I create as well as teacher things.  I hope you won't mind.  It'll be fun, I promise! :)  

In that spirit, I'm sharing a freebie I posted last night- Where is Sneaky Snowman? 

My kids LOVED LOVED LOVED a similar game I made in November, so I know they're going to be super happy when they come back to school this week to meet the sneaky, sneaky snowman who is hiding in our numbers pocket chart. :)  I hope you can use this with your students or a family member who is learning their numbers. :)  You can find it here, here, or here.

Valentine's Day is coming...

I have been doing some researching and looking and wanted to try something new. So, I put together these little cupcake/muffin sets. I was tickled pink (no pun intended) :) especially with my little toppers!

Our piano served as the drying space today and was COVERED with lots of these pieces.

I am working to improve my photography, so I made batches of chocolate chip and apple cinnamon streusel muffins to use as my models for this set. :) My young people were happy to eat my models when I finished. :)

And these are little stamped treat bags.

Looking for new "Fans"

Congratulations to Michelle Fenwick who won January's giveaway drawing! Your package was mailed yesterday, Michelle. :) I hope you like it as much I enjoyed making it.

New Ideas

So my last projects before I return to my "normal crazy life" on Monday (I am a public school teacher working with third graders) included these card ideas. Some of my family have told me to use a few of my photos in cards, so I finally got around to trying. I found four of my better seasonal photos and made this set.

And a big "Thanks" to my mother-in-law who sent me Christmas $. I used some of it to buy myself some dies for my Sizzix that I've wanted for a while. I created some samples of baby cards with one of the dies. Thanks again, Sandy!

Aren't those onesies just too cute?!?! I hope to make some for my sister soon as she'll be bringing a new baby into the world in just a few weeks!
